STUDENTS TRANSFERRING TO A NEW SCHOOL
Students who choose to transfer from one post-secondary institution to another shall be required to adhere to the following procedures and requirements:
a. Transfer during the reapplication timeframe – students who choose to transfer to another institution within the reapplication timeframe for the fall of the upcoming academic school year shall inform the Foundation of this decision with the student’s reapplication materials due February 1, 2026, or thereafter immediately after the student makes the decision to transfer, but in no event later than June 1, 2026. Full bursar information for the new school should accompany the notification, or if not available should be sent as soon as the information becomes available. If the information will not be available prior to the June 30, 2026 deadline for submitting bursar information, then the student must notify the Foundation at no later than by June 30, 2026, advising that a final decision on the transfer has not been made. If the new bursar information is not provided by June 30, 2026, then no check will be sent to either the current school or the new school. In addition, if correct bursar information is submitted after June it is possible that the check to the new school will not be mailed until after Labor Day, 2026.
b. Transfer in between semesters of the same academic year - students who choose to transfer (or are considering a transfer) to another institution during the academic school year must notify the Foundation at no later than December 1, 2025. The student shall submit bursar information for the new school to no later than January 10, 2026. In addition, the student shall be responsible for causing the current school to refund to the Foundation one-half (1/2) of the scholarship amount paid to that institution. The Foundation will remit that amount to the new school upon receipt of the funds from the current school, as long as the bursar information for the new school was received timely. Note that it may take 4-6 weeks after receipt of all the required information and the check from the current school before the Foundation will remit a check to the new school.
c. All students shall be limited to one transfer of schools for each academic degree being sought. By way of examples, (i) a student may transfer from one undergraduate institution to another only once prior to receiving their undergraduate degree; (ii) a student may transfer from one law school to another law school only once prior to receiving their law degree. A student transferring more than once shall not be eligible to receive further funding from the Foundation for that academic degree. The student will still be eligible to apply for funding for graduate or professional school. Note: obtaining an undergraduate degree from one college or university and then seeking admittance at another institution for graduate or professional school does not constitute a transfer.
d. All notifications of transfers set forth above shall be made via email to bursarinformation@oberkotterfamilyfoundation.org
* The deadlines for notifying the Foundation of transfers and providing new bursar information shall not be applicable to students transferring during or immediately after the 2025-2026 academic school year, but the restriction on the number of eligible transfers shall be applicable beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
